Prioritize Marriage
Ch. 1: Young Adulthood and Pathways to Eternal Marriage
“Marriage is ordained of God… God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife… Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan.” Pg. 21 The definition of marriage has changed a lot over the past few years. We are living in a world where anything goes. If it feels and looks good, it must be good! However, marriage between a man and a woman is something so sacred and will never change according to God’s law. Studies have shown that young adults are not even considering marriage to be a milestone or something that is part of becoming an adult. Instead, they are more focused on accepting responsibility for oneself and becoming financially independent. While these things are great, it is important to still have a focus for eternal marriagePri. “The prophets have always emphasized the importance of marriage according to God’s plan.” This put a lot of things into perspective for me. There are so many benefits that come from a marriage. Both men and women need each other. We have both been blessed with different gifts, abilities, and talents that compliment each other so well. Marriage brings forth blessings. Marriage brings forth growth. We have been sent here to be in families, create our own families, and to become more like our Savior Jesus Christ. I have experienced those blessings within my own family and can see how having my own family will help me grow even more. I look forward to that day even more so now because I have tasted the joys of righteous living. My hope is that we will be able to be a force for standing up for eternal marriage and the family, for God’s definition will never change.
